These gorgeous earrings are a favorite of mine! The chains are long and gracefully dust the shoulders.

Urban Craft Uprising is proud to be a sponsor for the Seattle screening of Faythe Levine's documentary, Handmade Nation on October 10th and 11th at the Northwest Film Forum. In addition to an awesome film, look for giveaways and other exciting activities on opening night.
First-time filmmaker Faythe Levine takes crafting seriously. So do the 80-some people she interviews in her well-crafted (pun intended) documentary about the growing art community that coheres around a belief in DIY skill and resourceful creativity. Many members of the indie crafting community spent their childhoods at flea markets, yard sales and thrift stores. Levine journeyed 19,000 miles around the country to discover what these crafters are up to today: selling mittens as band merchandise, knitting sweaters around street signs and networking with each other online, in stores and at craft fairs. This is a compelling look at the exuberant world of contemporary crafting.
"Their energy is infectious, which is why I call D.I.Y. the punk rock of the craft world." --Penelope Green, NY Times

Add a touch of earthy elegance to your wardrobe with this beautiful abstract cuff. Made of super soft taupe suede that laces up to fit any sized wrist. It has a variety of charms including a feather & turquoise chips and a gorgeous large sterling silver & labordorite gemstone focal piece on the side. This cuff is also my Fall Line-September Theme entry for Etsy Artists of Color. |
I was at the Urban Craft Uprising in Seattle this weekend, and I fell in love with some earrings. It's not just a crush, I'm head over heels. They are massive hoops with ruffled metallic snakeskin print leather. Yes, metallic and snakeskin, and leather. They are the best colorway ever- teal and hot pink on black. The teal dominates one side, and the pink dominates the other, making them reservable. The pair is not too heavy and each ruffle is on a sturdy hoop with a post that latches shut. These earrings and I were meant to be together.
The artist who made, CJ, them has a fantastic store on etsy, Lunaversoul. She brought an amazing spread of jewelry to the Urban Craft Uprising. Her table was covered with beautiful work that was very unique. She had necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Besides leather, CJ's accessories incorporate wooden beads and feathers, bold color and well placed flair. Her perspective was very creative and very fresh. Just like my new earrings.
