Lunaversoul will be attending & selling jewelry the CLCC Hair & Fashion Showcase on Saturday. The show will highlight the original fashions of Paula McField and Glamazon, it will showcase the current seasons collection of Grassi's fine fashions, Old Navy, Urban Xchange, The Tux Shop, Torrid, The Children’s Place, Ms. Diamond Accessories & More, The Shoe Show and other designers, boutiques and vendors. A giveaway of shoes from Kim Kardashians Shoedazzle company, hair products from JcPenny, Kera Care, Mixed Chicks and other vendors, these products and gift certificates will be given away through our raffle. We are asking that everyone dress to impress, our only requests are NO tennis shoes or other forms of sportsgear. We are asking EVERYONE to think out of the box and "Do You" it's a fashion show... so show us "YOUR" style. The best dressed will receive a prize. Its been a long time...

Greetings everyone!
It has been a minute since Ive been able to post since my back injury...I tell you I have never had one this severe in my life but all I can say is wow... I don't think I have been in that much pain before & I will definitely make sure I wont ever have to experience that again!
Slowly but surely I am up & around again preparing for my & Lunaversoul's Birthday on September 3rd!! Plus the upcoming Hats & Heels event on September 18th.

I know I JUST blogged about Lunaversoul in June (check it out here) but when I saw these earrings and matching cuff bracelet, I had to showcase this Etsy shop again!

Lunaversoul's designer, CJ (who is super cool by the way), is a master of creating pieces that are extremely funky and command attention. These two items are a part of her Santigold collection which includes a mixture of black and multi-colored metallic python-printed leather. How fabulous is that?! The earrings and cuff would look great separately but I don't think I could purchase one without the other. That's like peanut butter with no jelly, seriously.

While I was at the UCU show I met amazing artist & author Brookelynn when she came to my booth.She really loved my jewelry & she purchased a pair of my Santigold earrings. Earrings from Lunaversoul at the Urban Craft Uprising

I was at the Urban Craft Uprising in Seattle this weekend, and I fell in love with some earrings. It's not just a crush, I'm head over heels. They are massive hoops with ruffled metallic snakeskin print leather. Yes, metallic and snakeskin, and leather. They are the best colorway ever- teal and hot pink on black. The teal dominates one side, and the pink dominates the other, making them reservable. The pair is not too heavy and each ruffle is on a sturdy hoop with a post that latches shut. These earrings and I were meant to be together.

The artist who made, CJ, them has a fantastic store on etsy, Lunaversoul. She brought an amazing spread of jewelry to the Urban Craft Uprising. Her table was covered with beautiful work that was very unique. She had necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Besides leather, CJ's accessories incorporate wooden beads and feathers, bold color and well placed flair. Her perspective was very creative and very fresh. Just like my new earrings.

I am behind the camera so you wont see me heh heh!
Thanks to their help everything went smoothly. We had the "party booth" so you know we had alot of fun & our customers did too!
I not only had a lot of return customers, I had many of my online store regulars & many people have told me they came specifically to come see my newest jewelry & that really makes me feel really good!
I will be returning to do the UCU show again in the winter for the December 09 holiday show.

Made with very supple black & multi-colored metallic python painted print leather,Yes! leather, with a funky ruffle on the side & dichroic glass bead. Kind of reminds me of those 80's prom dresses.
This unique & electrifying leather cuff is definitely for a true fashionista & will make you feel like the super star whose style inspired it!

The cuff is approximately 3" The inside measurement is about 5 1/2" wide.
*(Each dichroic glass bead is unique so style will vary)*
You can easily adjust the opening to make them a little smaller or a little larger.

UCU-How did you get started with your craft?

C-It began as a past time at first, I always wanted accesories to not only be original but to also give my style some extra flare, so I purchased various materials and began to brain storm & work until I came up with a unique braclet. So unique that someone actually wanted to buy it right off my wrist. So I began to experiment with other pieces and materials which eventually inspired the birth of Lunaversoul










UCU- Are there specific ways you plan ahead for a show of this size?

C-I want to make sure I have a mixture of pieces for both new comers and existing customers who are already familiar with my work. So I want to display new items and also show case some crowd favorites,by doing this I hope it will encourage the buyer the to mix and match to their liking.










UCU-Are there any new items we will see at this summer’s show?

C-I am introducing my new line named Galactic Soul which will showcase great necklace and bracelet sets like the Neptune and Cosmic Girl. Pieces also featured are my BB Queen earrings and Andromeda necklace.













UCU- Any vendors you look forward to seeing?

C-I am anxious to see what Sprout Jewelry & Estrella Soap will be contributing to the show.

This cuff pours elegance. Made with exquisite ivory suede leather with metallic platinum & smoke grey zebra print which is overlaid with a lame finish that gives it just enough shimmer but is not too flashy.
The cuff is brass sterling silver plated & approximately 3" The inside measurement is about 5 1/2" wide a 1" opening. You can easily adjust the opening to make them a little smaller or a little larger.

Now I know this is old news but its new news to me. Today is my deadline for having everything done for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Although I finished last night, & I promised to take the day off to relax.
Instead I made these earrings for my most favorite Aunt in the world.
She adores elephants & collects them as well.
I really like this pair,they are earthy but & funky hence the name ElePhunk!

Today was peaceful,beautiful & hot as fish grease!...I spent some time chatting away on the phone with my loved one. An apple flavored white iced tea in one hand with Mos Def's Casa Bey in my ears. Even though today was an extremely lazy one for me,It felt good just to stop & take some time for myself. I forgot about all the million things that needed to be done...just for today. This was all I needed to feel refreshed & inspired so in honor of my special day I made this wrap around necklace & bracelet. :)

Hey everyone! I tell you its been a crazy creative month for me so far. Lately Ive been spending most of my free time indoors due to the insane weather we have been having here in Seattle. These constant changes with the weather has played a huge part in my being sick with the flu for over two weeks, but I still managed to crank out all new handmade goodness. Lunaversoul Jewelry featured at the Smithsonian Institiution's Folklife Festival

Lunaversoul's handmade jewelry will be featured & available for sale at the 43rd annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival,Giving Voice: The Power of Words in African American Culture.

The Festival is held outdoors on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between the Smithsonian museums. June 24th – 28th, and July 1st – 5th from 11 am to 5:30 pm, with occasional evening events. There is no admission charge.

The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture is slated to open its doors in 2015. In the meantime, the Museum has already begun its exciting mission of exploring and celebrating the depth and breadth of the African American experience.

At this momentous time in American history, the program will explore the power of African American oral traditions in the shaping of American culture. From children's rhyming games to shaping the destiny of the nation, Black oratory has played a major role. The power of persuasion in the pulpit, home, barber shop, political arena, and more will be presented. From poetry to storytelling, from journalism to debate, we will hear from some of the most dynamic speakers of our age. Through the power of words, African Americans have given voice to the needs, hopes, aspirations, and dreams of a people.

The program will include performance stages as well as interactive, more intimate spaces, where audiences can discuss both the aesthetics and meaning of oral traditions with Festival participants. The program is deigned to inspire, and to give insight into the aesthetics of language, as well as the cultural, social, political and religious issues that inform it, from an African American perspective.
